The Swiss Children Group met for the first time on April 25th. We had
a total of 11 children. Since it was a typical April weather day
with a snow and sun mix we decided to learn the song "Oh Du Goldigs
Suenneli tuen doch wiedr schyne". The children picked up the text and
melody very quickly. We then crafted some suns to show our wish for
sunshine. Waiving the suns the children sang the song a couple more
times and then the sun actually appeared to everyones delight. We then
sang "Alli mini Aentli" and already an hour had passed. Afterwards
most children stayed and enjoyed a little playdate. Due to travelling
of two lead-families in May we weren't able to get together, however
we met a couple Saturday's in June. Eventhough there really wasn't
much practising time we had our first performance at the August 1st
celebration in Rivercove Campground. |
We sang a total of seven songs
and delighted the crowd. During summer we came together a couple of
times to sing a little and to play together. Since then our group grew
as more families are joining with the youngest one being 3 years old
and the oldest 11. With the school start we are back to a two week
schedule learning new songs, playing our favourite instruments, piano
and even an accordion (handorgel), trying out a folk dance, craft
together and if time permits play together. Our next highlight will be
a small performance at our Christmas Party that we will hold in
conjunction with the Samichlaus event. For more details please contact
