Crossbow Shooting carries with it thousands of years a colourful history and so it is no wonder that today it is still enjoyed as a unique and meditating way to relax while participating in international target shooting competitions.

Earliest reliable records of the crossbow date as far back as 341 BC but it wasn't until the 10th or 11th centuries AD that the crossbow became a significant military weapon in Europe. In the 16th century it passed from general military service while its use for hunting and target shooting still continues today.

Here at the Alberta Swiss Crossbow Association members participate with numerous crossbow clubs in Switzerland and around the world in various target shooting programs and competitions.

Located within the Calgary City limits, a few blocks NE of the Deerfoot Mall, we enjoy our indoor/outdoor 30-meter range generally Wednesday evenings from about May to October, depending on the weather. Social functions throughout the year are also part of our agenda where even guests are eligible to shoot in some programs.
